The Jewelry Selling Answer Book
Hello, everyone. I was recently asked to read and review “The Jewelry Selling Answer Book” by Dr. David Weiman. David Weiman is the Marketing Director for one of the most respected jewelry magazines and on-line sites of all time, Lapidary Journal, as well as the Marketing Director of Step by Step Beads and Step by Step Wire Jewelry (two of my favorite beading mags!). Needless to say, David is highly respected in the field of jewelry marketing!
He has created a very helpful guide for those of us who are in the business of making and selling jewelry. I was asked to read the book back in October, but sadly–my ‘eyes are bigger than my stomach’ not only when it comes to eating, but also in the amount of work and reading I can accomplish
–I didn’t sit down to read the book until yesterday. I am glad I finally did, and here’s why…
Many of you have asked questions on the jewelry forum and in private emails and messages to me about the critical issues of how to start your own jewelry business, how to price your jewelry, how to get your jewelry into stores for sale, and other related questions. They are common questions that we all have, and they don’t always have straightforward answers. David covers all of this and more in his helpful guide.
This book is perfect if you are just starting your jewelry business, if you are a jewelry hobbiest who is thinking of starting to sell jewelry, and if you just need an added boost of confidence to get your business going. That said, it is even a helpful guide to those of us who have been doing this for a long time–I learned a few new things myself! (Hey, you learn something new every day, and everyone brings their own unique perspective to the table).
The interesting twist that makes the book stand out is that Dr. David Weiman is also a Psychologist. So, he includes the psychology of selling as an integral part of the book. For example, what makes someone buy jewelry in the first place and how can you appeal to that? How do you understand how to price your jewelry to make it more appealing?
Here is an outline of what the book covers in more detail:
